Music, and why it now sucks…

Ok, so here’s the deal. I want a NEW BAND, with a NEW SOUND, and a NEW IMAGE….

It seems that in recent times, “popular” music has been divided into three separate mush’s.

As it stands, out in-front, is the generic hip-hop, rap, R ‘n’ B(Rhythm and Bass, not blues) market, where you have many different artists rapping about pimps, hoes, 24 inch hummer convertibles with extra bass to make them sound like wet farts cos they weren’t properly insulated, no, just the chavs at the end of my road on the last one, OK… fair enough.

As I was saying, that is your generic, hip hop, crap. To be honest, I don’t want to listen to some track that’s been *cough* remixed into something different, and some ignorant, egotistical cock saying how he is “the shit” by shooting a prostitute in the face with a “45″. (and the government thinks video gaming s the main source of gun crime…) I would rather here someone rap about life in the gutter and rising up to be a famous white rapper, who…wait, that didn’t happen to Eminem…it was all a conspiracy. But you get my point, and if you don’t, you must be stupid. But if you are in the latter category, then here it is: RAP IS NOT ENTIRELY TRUTHFUL ANYMORE!

What happened to the good old days when people would sing about rocking out, going to someones house to party and have a good time without having to worry about getting shot, or raped….or both, if your into that sort of thing.

Like Run DMC, they had a good thing going…even NWA were mostly all about expressing themselves. But then some people took that a Lil bit to far, even Puff daddy, or P diddly, or what ever he seems to be calling himself these days, took it too far…

SO come on guys, as you say, lets get “old-school” and go back to the 80’s when rapping was still about good stuff.

Coming in second place is the not-so-pop like, pop stars…

Since when was pop music life so difficult??

How is it, that Only Brittany Spears is the only one finding life in the fast lane a little bit too much?

The other mousketeer are fine, more or less… Christina is doing well for herself, she is hot, and not a slut….JT, is going well too, even thought he is turning a bit sour now, after 3 albums of “EEEEEEEEEEEEE” (and that’s Treble Clef E for those who are wondering) Seriously, the only people who can get away with singing like that are people with weird mouths. (Cue Mick Jagger, Steve Tyler and James Brown)

But it gets worse, cos now, us English folk have got our own JT, in the form of some pre-pubescent young land called Shayne Ward….more like put him in a hospital ward. yet another pawn in Simon Cowells obvious attempt to take over the world by manipulating people into thinking they are good singers and putting them down to point that they top themselves. And those (like Ward) who have some talent are quickly and quietly taken off to the promised land where they are aloud to venture back here for a few months a year to release an album.

Come, on guys, where do you think they go?

So many factory made celebs/singers/movie stars die out within 2 years, its like a new age cult or something, but where our ears, eyes and nose’s bleed constantly.

But no, I find myself saying, maybe we should take it back a few years. Yes I know that boy bands and girl bands of the 90’s were also hand made. But they proved successful, cos you dont have half wits like the Great British public deciding on whats goo.

What do they know. Why do you think we’ve done worse in the Eurovision, ever since “The Great British Public” have been aloud to have their say in who fails…. At least before we got involved we had been in the leagues of nil point.

And finally, we have our Indy, but not so independent musicians.

We have wanna be rock bands springing up all over the place, and yes, to begin with, this was a delightful change from washed up pop stars going nuts, and black guys and wanna be black guys shooting each other…which does have its upsides I have to admit

But now, it has also become a mush of singers whining on about how their lives suck, and how its good to be lonely. Or singing about girls they cant get. Or by just being so damn plucky , its irritating.

I thought this would encourage the good people of Britain to regain some sense and start proper rock bands again, but no, the “Indy” market has become mainstream…which is just plain wrong….those bands which claim they are “indy music” and have a record label, like sony, are obviously ignorant little bastards….

INDY MEANS INDEPENDENT YOU SPACKS!!!!

You know, like writing your own songs and recording them on a 8 track player(or Reason if you live in the modern life). The times when you would do the proper rotten jobs to get people to listen to your music and go to yoru gigs. And not worry about being brought out by EMI. And not exactly be the richest people in the world. But to make good music, and have fun…YES FUN…you can make music and have fun at the same time you know….its mot about the money, or fame, or drugs, or parties. That all helps in the having fun process…but give me and amp, my guitar, a pen and some paper, some led for inspiration, AND BAM, there you go fun for me…

But all this is irrelevant, I say music around the world has been slowly(sometimes quickly) failing in the last 15 years or so, and nothing is really gonna stop it.

But if you take my advise and do things which are fun…and if in some peoples case, it is going around shooting people whilst grunting over and old queen record in trackies. then please don’t tell anyone i gave you the advise…

toodles :)
